Hydro66 Launches New MW Expansion As Caza Gold Corp And Arctic Blockchain Become Hydro66 Holdings Corp

From the north of Sweden, boutique colocation operator is shaking the market through new funding initiatives and market approach.

Swedish data centre services provider Hydro66 has unveiled plans to expand its facility for the third time in less than 12 months with an additional allocation of 8MW.

In total, the facility in Boden, Northern Sweden, will amount to 19MW, up from today’s 11MW, adding an extra 1,000 sqm and 400 racks to the facility.

The expansion is targeted at the new wave of digital services from customers operating in the high-performance computing (HPC) space, including hashrate services, automotive modelling, driverless cars, Artificial Intelligence, mapping, and weather simulation.

The centre is situated on a 41 MW site beside a 120 MW substation in Boden. Hydro66 currently has 11.2 MW deployed at 100% utilisation – and are now announcing a further 4 MW coming live in September 2018 and 4 MW early in Q4. This completes the Phase 1 build out of the site, with planning for Phase 2 at an advanced stage.

Hydro66 CEO Anne Graf, said: “This time last year we announced our intention to build out our greenfield colocation data centre to 11 MW. At the time, this represented a trebling in size of our purpose-built facility in Boden, Northern Sweden. We are delighted to state that we have completed this expansion on time, on budget and with new customers fully occupying the space.”

Additionally, Hydro66 has also announced that Caza Gold Corp. has entered into a binding business combination agreement with Arctic Blockchain – which has recently acquired Hydro66 – whereby Caza will acquire all of the securities of Arctic by way of a three-cornered amalgamation, subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement.

Pursuant to the terms of the transaction, Arctic will amalgamate with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caza, and Caza will change its name to Hydro66 Holdings Corp. As a result of the transaction, the company will continue on with the business of Arctic’s wholly owned subsidiary Hydro66 UK Limited.
